Beloit rolls out the red carpet for Ride Across Wisconsin (RAW)

Stateline Spinners Ride Across Wisconsin Beloit (2)Almost 500 bicyclists rode into Beloit on Saturday August 29, 2015 for the inaugural Ride Across Wisconsin (RAW).  The 175-mile ride, consisting of avid bicyclists and members of the elite TREK Factory Racing Team, was held to raise funds for the Wisconsin Bike Federation.

The Beloit community really rolled out the Stateline Spinners Ride Across Wisconsin Beloit (9) (Custom)red carpet for these riders and the Stateline Spinners group was a driving force behind the success of their memorable visit to Beloit, along with other community organizations and partners.

Riders were guided through the city, with corner tenders cheering and encouraging the riders on. They rolled into Riverside Park and were treated to lunch and entertainment ranging from the Beloit Memorial High School Pom Pon Squad and Even Start Dancers to gospel singers.

Organizers are hoping to make it an annual event with thousands of riders, and we hope Beloit will be a permanent rest stop.

Congratulations to the 4 Stateline Spinners who completed the 175 mile ride – John Pfleiderer, Phil Shields, Todd Poepping and Jon Nelson.

The Stateline Spinners has received several nice emails and comments from riders and organizers:

“I lost count of how many riders told me at the finish that Beloit was “over the top”, “crazy”, “just nuts”, “never seen anything like it.” Even John Burke brought it up.

You guys just blew it out of the water and were a huge part of what was a hugely successful day for the Bike Fed and for biking in Wisconsin.”

Thank you so much!

Dave Cieslewicz, Wisconsin Bike Federation

“Thank you to the Stateline Spinners and everyone who helped make the Beloit Ride Across Wisconsin stop such a great place to recharge. The guys I rode with said that, by far, it was the best hospitality on the whole ride. A beautiful location, plenty of food, people guiding us all through town, so many people cheering and saying “Welcome to Beloit!,” and even cheerleaders?! Wow, it was the perfect way to set up the stretch run into Kenosha. Again, thank you. You made Beloit look great.”

Jon Nelson

“There is no way to thank you for how incredible the Beloit rest stop was….not to mention the course marshal volunteers on the way in and out. You and your team went above and beyond and it was noted by the riders. It was fun to see the looks on their faces when they rode in and did not expect the special treatment. My husband said he heard many comments, as a rider, about how great they thought everything was. Please pass this along to your team. Thanks, again, for everything!!”

“You guys were the best on Saturday!!! The cheerleaders were a great touch!! Most of all I felt very safe coming into town with people at the corners and great markings. Please thank all of your volunteers. Everyone I was talking to on the ride just loved Beloit. What a great ambassador the Spinners club was to Beloit. Your hospitality was very appreciated and certainly helped me over the hump to make it the remaining 74 miles.”

Thanks again, Rob Stilson
